Let the beautiful landscape and architecture of Longue Vue House and Gardens inspire your creativity through plein air painting! Enhance your oil painting skills and learn how to simplify elements, mix paint colors and use block-in techniques. Taught by Longue Vue’s artist-in-residence, Peg Usner, these Sunday workshops will include demonstrations on how to set up materials for plein air paintings, prime canvases and choose composition and color appropriateness in an impressionistic style. Kitchen Garden Workshop

Learn how to grow your own vegetable garden in this two-hour, hands-on kitchen garden workshop entitled “Eat Your Greens.” Participants will plant an edible container garden for their home and learn maintenance tips from Longue Vue’s horticulture experts. Collective Media Opening Reception

Join Longue Vue for the opening of “Collective Media,” an artistic and architectural collaboration between local architect Elizabeth Chen and second grade students from Young Audiences Charter School. Inspired by Chen’s water filtration system developed in Indonesia, guests will view monochromatic abstractions of the water cycle created by the students. The exhibition will close on October 25, 2015 with an artist talk from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Longue Vue’s student exhibitions are generously funded by the RosaMary Foundation. Kinder Garden: Creepy Crawlies in the Garden
